Take Down Bomb Threat Posts Or Be Held Liable: IT Ministry

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued an advisory to all social media platforms. It asked them to adhere to provisions of IT Rules and make “reasonable efforts” to ‘promptly’ take down bomb threat posts or else “be held liable”. The ministry cautioned online platforms that failure to comply with the IT Rules could result in the loss of their safe harbor protection.
