In a rare event, parts of the Sahara Desert experienced severe flooding after torrential rains in southeastern Morocco, marking the first such occurrence in 50 years. The village of Tagounite recorded over 100mm of rain in just 24 hours, refilling the long-dry Lake Iriqui. While the rainfall brought life to parched areas, it also claimed 18 lives and raised concerns about extreme weather patterns.
