Tamil actress Nayanathara broke silence on the controversy surrounding her latest release, ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’. She issued an apology, saying the film makers did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments. The film was pulled into a legal fight over some alleged disparaging references to Lord Ram.
Many viewers also bashed the film for promoting religious conversions. Reacting to this on her Instagram handle, Nayanathara issued a clarification over the controversy. She issued the apology with a heavy heart and a genuine desire to address the turn of events regarding the film ‘Annapoorni’.
“Crafting ‘Annapoorni’ a heartfelt pursuit to inspire resilience. We wanted to instill the spirit of never giving up. We may have inadvertently caused hurt to some people in our sincere attempt to share a positive message.
We did not expect the removal of a censored film that was previously showcased in theaters from the OTT platform. My team and I never wanted to hurt anyone’s sentiments. We understood the heaviness of this issue.
As someone who believes in God and visits temples across the country frequently, it is the last thing I would intentionally do. I extend my sincere & heartfelt apologies to those whose feelings we’ve touched.” The tamil actress recently made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan starrer blockbuster ‘Jawan’.
