India’s Participation In Champions Trophy 2025 In Doubt
The participation of the Indian cricket team in the 2025 Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in Pakistan, remains uncertain as the BCCI has yet to make an official announcement.
The participation of the Indian cricket team in the 2025 Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in Pakistan, remains uncertain as the BCCI has yet to make an official announcement. The two cricketing nations have not engaged in a bilateral series for nearly a decade, with their only encounters occurring during international and continental tournaments. Although Pakistan traveled to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup, India has not yet made a final decision regarding the Champions Trophy. Reports suggest the tournament might adopt a hybrid format, but the ICC has not confirmed this, and Pakistan has reportedly planned for India’s matches to be held in Lahore.
Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan has issued a stern warning to India, emphasizing the need for the BCCI to honor its ICC commitments. Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, Moin stated, “India must honor ICC commitments, and if they don’t, Pakistan should also consider taking a stand by not participating in future tournaments in India.” He also urged Indian cricket legends to advise the BCCI to separate sports from politics, noting the global fan base’s desire for India and Pakistan to compete.
Additionally, Moin expressed dissatisfaction with former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja’s treatment of his son Azam, criticizing the decision-making process that affected Azam’s career, especially following the 2024 T20 World Cup.
