The Centre has lifted the ban on non-basmati white rice exports, imposed in July 2023 to ensure domestic supply and control prices. Exporters hailed the move as a “game-changer” for the agricultural sector, boosting both exporters’ income and empowering farmers. The government also reduced the export duty on parboiled rice from 20% to 10%, further supporting the industry.
