The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the premises of the press advisor to Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in Ranchi this morning in connection with the alleged money laundering case. The ED officials said that the search operations were carried out at the premises of Abhishek Prasad, Soren’s press advisor.
The raids were carried out at 12 locations, including the residences of Abhishek Prasad and the Deputy Commissioner of Sahebganj, said officials. On December 30, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) gave Chief Minister Soren a “last opportunity” to record his statement about an alleged land scam. But Soren claimed that the summons was “illegal.”
The ED has issued the 7th summons to Soren under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, asking him to record his statement. He has so far skipped six summons. Earlier in mid-August, Soren was called in by the ED over a land “scam.” The CM, however, disregarded the summons, saying he was preoccupied with the state’s Independence Day festivities.
