EAM Holds Key Bilateral Meetings At First India-GCC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in a series of high-profile bilateral meetings with GCC Foreign Ministers at the First India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Riyadh on Monday.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in a series of high-profile bilateral meetings with GCC Foreign Ministers at the First India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Riyadh on Monday. His first meeting was with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, where they discussed advancing India-Qatar relations. Jaishankar highlighted ongoing high-level exchanges, including his recent visit to Doha and agreements on LNG supply.
Following this, Jaishankar met Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, along with Deputy Ministers Saud Al-Sati and Abdulrahman Al-Rassi. They reviewed bilateral ties and discussed regional and international issues. In his session with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, both parties agreed on convening their Joint Commission to enhance cooperation in various sectors.
With Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Jaishankar emphasized strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional concerns, including the situation in Gaza. He also discussed global issues with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, focusing on the G20, BRICS, and the Ukraine conflict.
The meeting in Riyadh, chaired by Qatar’s Prime Minister, is part of a broader strategic dialogue involving the GCC and key international partners. After Riyadh, Jaishankar will visit Berlin and Geneva, continuing his diplomatic engagements.
