The Supreme Court has raised alarm over rising digital arrest scams, with CJI Justice Surya Kant expressing concern that even well-educated individuals are being deceived. The court cited a case where an elderly woman lost her retirement savings. Taking suo motu cognizance, the bench has also initiated proceedings and scheduled the next hearing for May 12.
