Calcutta High Court has granted permission to a Kolkata couple to conceive through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), despite being beyond the prescribed age limit for the procedure. Justice Amrita Sinha delivered the ruling after the couple, married for 30 years and childless, sought the court’s intervention when their request was denied by the state health department.
