The Union Cabinet, headed by PM Modi, approved a 3% increase in the dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for Central government employees and pensioners on Wednesday. This raises the DA and DR from 50% to 53%, effective from July 1. This biannual revision benefits around 1 crore employees and pensioners, providing significant relief ahead of the Diwali festival.
