India and Bhutan will build two cross‑border rail links spanning 89 km connecting Banarhat to Samtse and Kokrajhar to Gelephu at a combined cost of ₹4,033 cr. The projects include bridges, viaducts and stations and will be completed in 3 to 4 yrs. The investment is fully funded by the Indian govt. Passenger and freight trains will operate on both the lines.
