From midnight today, a fishing ban in the Bay of Bengal will begin in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalle district and continue until June 14. The state enforces an annual ban from May 14 to June 15 to protect marine breeding and sustain fish populations. During this period, 12,644 fishermen across 31 villages will receive govt compensation to them.
