New J&K MLA Reveals Army Officer’s Torture, Sought To Become Militant

National Conference MLA Qaiser Jamshaid Lone shared how he considered joining militancy after being tortured by an army officer during a crackdown in his youth. Speaking in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, he explained how a senior officer’s public rebuke of the torturer restored his faith in the system. Lone later learned that 27 of the 32 questioned youths had joined militants.
