Bombay HC Rules Keeping Child From Mother Is ‘Cruelty’

Bombay High Court ruled that preventing a child from meeting her mother constitutes ‘cruelty’ under the Indian Penal Code, and refused to quash the FIR filed against the in-laws of a woman from Jalna. The court highlighted that keeping a four-year-old child away from her mother causes mental harassment and grave harm to the mother’s well-being.
