Brazil’s President Lula hailed his country for giving the world a “lesson in democracy” after ex-president Jair Bolsonaro began serving a 27-year prison sentence for a failed coup attempt. Bolsonaro, under house arrest for leading a criminal conspiracy against Lula, was taken into custody after tampering with his ankle monitor, with all appeals now exhausted.
