20,000 Paramilitary Personnel Deployed To Manipur Amid Fresh Violence

The Centre sent 20,000 more paramilitary personnel to Manipur following a surge in violence, bringing the total to 90 companies, or 90,000 personnel, in 10 days. This follows a review meeting with Amit Shah. Violence, triggered by the killing of a woman in Jiribam, has led to over 200 deaths and widespread displacement in ethnic clashes between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023.
