Prateek Bordoloi announced he will not contest the Margherita assembly seat on a Congress ticket after his father, Assam MP Pradyut Bordoloi, joined BJP. In a letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, he stated he will remain a party member, but stepping down as a candidate is appropriate following his father’s political move.
