The Telangana govt has introduced a new ‘road safety tax’ for newly purchased vehicles, adding to buyers’ costs. As per orders issued by the state Transport Dept, the rule will take effect from March 1. Vehicle owners must pay ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, depending on the category, at the time of registration, making new vehicle purchases slightly more expensive.
