China Defends Brahmaputra Dam, Assures No Impact On Neighbors

China defended its plan to build the world’s largest dam on the Brahmaputra River in Tibet, stating it will not affect riparian states. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized that decades of studies have addressed safety concerns. Despite the project’s cost of USD 137 billion and location in an earthquake-prone region, China assures responsible development of cross-border rivers.
