India Blocks 17,000 WhatsApp Accounts in Major Cybercrime Crackdown

India’s Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) have blocked 17,000 WhatsApp accounts linked to cybercrime networks operating in Southeast Asia. These accounts were used for scams involving fake call centers tied to Chinese casinos in Cambodia. The crackdown follows rising concerns over 50% of the blocked accounts used for deceiving Indian citizens.
