Stolen Thirumangai Alwar Idol To Be Repatriated From London

Bronze idol of saint-poet Thirumangai Alwar, stolen decades ago from the Soundararaja Perumal Temple in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, is set to be repatriated from London. The Tamil Nadu Idol Wing CID confirmed that the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University, where the idol has been since 1967, agreed to return it after a thorough investigation and evidence of its origins.
