Taliban Executes Convicted Murderer In Public Firing Squad In Eastern Afghanistan

On Wednesday, Taliban authorities in eastern Afghanistan executed a convicted murderer, Mohammad Ayaz Asad, by gunfire at a sports stadium in Gardez. The execution, the sixth public one since the Taliban’s return to power, was carried out by a member of the victim’s family in front of thousands. The execution was ordered by Taliban Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.
