SC Revives ₹20,000-23,000 Crore Tax Notices Against Major Companies

Supreme Court revived tax notices worth ₹20,000 crore to ₹23,000 crore from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence against major companies, including Vedanta, Vodafone Idea, Adani Enterprises, and Canon. A three-judge bench ruled that DRI officers are authorized under the Customs Act, 1962, to issue show-cause notices and recover duties, affirming their role as “proper officers.”
