104 Journalists Killed In 2024, Over Half In Gaza

The International Federation of Journalists reported 104 journalist deaths in 2024, with over half in Gaza. While down from 129 in 2023, this remains one of the deadliest years on record. The majority of deaths were Palestinian journalists, with 138 killed since the October 2023 war. The IFJ also noted 520 journalists are currently imprisoned globally, a sharp increase from 427 last year.
