Karnataka Govt Increases Vehicle Registration Fees

The Karnataka Assembly passed a bill imposing a ₹500 cess on car and bike registrations and an additional 3% fee on transport vehicles, raising vehicle registration costs. Approved by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot in March 2024, the amended law includes a lifetime tax on EVs, with a 10% tax on EVs priced over ₹25 lakh.
