Home Ministry Says Every Third Fugitive Wanted By India Hiding In US

Indian Home Ministry said every third fugitive from Indian government is taking shelter in United States, making it a ‘safe haven’ for criminals and terrorists. MoS Nityanand Rai said 65 of 178 pending extradition requests by investigative agencies for criminals are under consideration by US, with whom a treaty was signed in 1997. However, from 2002 to 2018, only 11 requests were honored.
