Court Orders Panel To Decide Custody Of Teen Trafficking Survivor

The Bombay HC has directed the Maharashtra Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to decide the custody of a 15-year-old girl rescued from a prostitution ring. The father, implicated in trafficking, had filed for custody, but the court ruled custody decisions should be made by the CWC. The court overturned the Thane Sessions Court’s May 2023 order, directing the CWC to evaluate both parents’ claims.
