Telangana reports the highest impaired kidney function prevalence at 7.4%, driven by diabetes and hypertension affecting 37 lakh people. Males face greater risk than females. Factors include heat stress, contaminated water, and misuse of medications. Both rural and urban areas are equally affected, says a recent ICMR study.
