Supreme Court called on Centre to focus on employment generation instead of providing free ration to poor people. The court made these remarks while hearing the matter pertaining to providing food under Food Security Act. The apex court said that if this continues, states may keep on issuing ration cards to appease people, since they know that the liability to provide grains rests with Centre.
