Karnataka will hold a key meeting on September 16 in Bengaluru to examine Scheduled Tribe status for Kurubas from Bidar, Kalaburagi, and Yadgir. Chaired by a senior IAS officer, the session gains political weight as CM Siddaramaiah is himself a Kuruba. The move precedes Karnataka’s fresh caste census, slated for September 22-October 7.
