An eight percent voter turnout was recorded in Punjab’s zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections, officials said. Polling is being conducted under tight security arrangements, with counting scheduled for December 17. Elections are being held for 347 zila parishad zones and 2,838 panchayat samiti zones, with over 9,000 candidates in the fray.
