The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized around 60,000 kg of smuggled foreign-origin areca nuts in Assam and Mizoram during operations in the North-East. The nuts were reportedly smuggled from Myanmar via the border. Five people were arrested. The crackdown aims to protect domestic growers and curb cross-border smuggling networks.
