Congress MP Shashi Tharoor refused to accept the “Veer Savarkar Award” or attend the ceremony. He said organizers announced his name without permission, and he needed clarifications about the award and its presenting body. Party leader K. Muraleedharan also stated no Congress member should accept awards in Savarkar’s name.
