Telangana’s total debt, including government guarantees, reached Rs 8 lakh crore by December 2025, says the Socio-Economic Outlook 2026. Since Congress took office in December 2023, the state borrowed Rs 3.19 lakh crore and repaid Rs 3.04 lakh crore, indicating most funds were used to service inherited debt from prior governments.
