Cruise Bharat Mission Aims For 1 Lakh Tourists By 2029

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the Cruise Bharat Mission, aiming to attract 10 lakh sea cruise tourists by 2029. Currently, 6 major ports—Visakhapatnam, Mormugao, New Mangalore, Cochin, Mumbai, and Chennai—have cruise terminals. A new presumptive taxation regime for non-residents operating cruise ships was introduced under Section 44BBC of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
