The Ministry of Home Affairs clarified that the Centre has no plan to introduce a constitutional amendment to place Chandigarh under Article 240. It said the idea to streamline the Central Government’s law-making process for the Union Territory is still being examined. The proposal remains under consideration, with no final decision yet.
