A two-year-old girl, Aryatara Shakya, was chosen as Nepal’s new Kumari, a living goddess worshipped during the Dashain festival. Paraded through Kathmandu, she will reside in a temple palace and bless devotees. Though traditionally secluded, modern Kumaris now receive education and support but face challenges adjusting after their tenure ends.
