The central govt clarified in the Lok Sabha that consumers are not required to install prepaid electricity meters. Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said small recharge options are available for affordability. However, habitual defaulters may be shifted to prepaid systems, as power companies must recover costs to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
