A 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Bay of Bengal today. The earthquake was 35 km deep. It is known that the Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas witness seismic activity rarely due to tectonic plate movements. The area is not as prone to severe activity as the Ring of Fire, and moderate earthquakes will occur in the region.
