D.K. Shivakumar has been sworn in as the 18th Chief Minister of Karnataka, beginning a new phase in the state’s leadership. Since 1956, Karnataka has seen several prominent cm’s, including S. Nijalingappa, D. Devaraj Urs, Ramakrishna Hegde, S.M. Krishna, H.D. Kumaraswamy, B.S. Yediyurappa, and Siddaramaiah, who preceded the current administration.
