Nepal’s government demolished hundreds of illegal structures along the Bagmati River in Kathmandu’s Thapathali and Gairegaun areas as part of a beautification drive. Around 346 families were relocated to temporary shelters. The operation, led by federal and city authorities with security forces, also includes planned removals in nearby riverbank areas.
