A parliamentary panel has recommended simplifying policies for underground coal mining caused by complex clearance processes meant for open-cast projects. The govt aims to produce 100 million tonnes of coal from underground mines by 2030. The panel noted this method reduces surface damage and enables access to deep reserves year-round.
