US Court Denies TikTok’s Plea To Pause Ban

A US appeals court rejected TikTok’s emergency bid to block a law requiring ByteDance, its Chinese parent company, to divest the app by Jan 19 or face a US ban. TikTok and ByteDance filed the motion with the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, seeking more time to appeal to the Supreme Court. They warned the law could shut down TikTok, which serves 170 million US monthly users.
