“Scrap 97 Lakh Vehicles, Gain ₹40,000 Cr GST, 70 Lakh Jobs”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said scrapping India’s 97 lakh unfit vehicles could yield ₹40,000 crore GST and create 70 lakh jobs. Speaking at ACMA 2025, he noted 3 lakh vehicles have been scrapped so far, with private firms investing ₹2,700 crore. Gadkari urged automakers to offer 5% discounts for scrappage certificates to boost demand.
