Delhi’s Birth Rate, Sex Ratio Witness Downtrend

Delhi’s sex ratio dropped to 920 females per 1,000 males in 2024 from 922 in 2023, while the birth rate declined to 14 per 1,000 population, according to an official report. The death rate rose to 6.37, though infant and maternal mortality fell slightly. Delhi registered 3.06 lakh births, mostly institutional, with mothers mainly aged 25-29 years.
