9 Maoists, including senior leader C Narayana Rao, surrendered to Andhra Pradesh police today, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta said, declaring that Left Wing Extremism (LWE) has ended in the state. Rao, former Andhra-Odisha Border secretary, was active for 36 years. Police, special forces, and appeals for integration into mainstream society facilitated the surrenders.
