EC Bars Exit Polls Until After Polling Ends On April 29

The Election Commission has barred exit polls from 7 AM on April 9 to 6:30 PM on April 29 for the 5 assembly elections this month. Conducting or broadcasting them violates Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, punishable with up to 2 years’ imprisonment, fine, or both. Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry vote April and Tamil Nadu on April 23.
