UK Lockdown Delay Linked To 23,000 Excess Deaths

A UK inquiry found the government’s COVID response was “too little, too late,” with a week’s delay in the 2020 lockdown causing about 23,000 excess deaths. Led by Baroness Hallett, it said leaders underestimated the threat and issued 19 recommendations to reform emergency decision-making, communication, scrutiny and protections for vulnerable groups.
