Canada Ends Student Direct Stream Visa Program, Impacting International Students

Canada has discontinued its Student Direct Stream (SDS) visa program, which expedited study permits for students from 14 countries, including India. The move  will shift new applications to the regular study permit stream. Introduced in 2018, SDS had faster processing times and higher approval rates. This policy change comes as Canada seeks to curb immigration amid rising domestic concerns.
