In 2018, a student missed the NEET exam because of a train delay. After an 8-year investigation, railway officials could not explain the reason. The District Consumer Court in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, fined the railways ₹9.10 lakh as compensation and ordered it to be paid within 45 days to the affected student.
